VapoRub?

Okay who else grew up using Vick's VapoRub for all aliments? Really, I think anything that hurt vaporub was applied to make it feel better. If you had a chest cold and you were congested it was applied to the chest. If you were coughing it was applied to the feet. If your nose was stuffy it was applied on your upper lip to open your sinuses. Lastly, it was applied to achy muscles, and sore joints.

Oh how it was thought to help anything and everything. It was applied to a cut to keep it from scaring. I know, I know, all this sounds strange however, it really did help. Actually, I have a jar in my medicine cabinet today. Lol.

Vick's vaporub is a balm. Did you know there is a balm that the Bible speaks about?

It's called the Balm of Gilead.

The "balm of Gilead" is a medicinal substance derived from plants. This balm was a high-quality ointment with healing properties. Just as Vick's was used for many ailments growing up the Balm of Gilead was used in similar ways. It was an antibacterial, antifungal, and a mild analgesic.

The Bible uses the term “balm of Gilead” metaphorically as an example of something with healing or soothing powers. Jesus Christ is truly "the healing balm" for all the hurts and ailments of the world.

Apply him (Jesus Christ) today!

Jeremiah 8:22 KJV "Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?"

Jeremiah 8:22 Amplified "Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people restored? [Because Zion no longer enjoyed the presence of the Great Physician!]"
