Speckled

Does anyone else like speckled bananas? I love a ripe banana! Why? Sweet and less squeaky. Little facts about the yellow sweetness...it's the fourth most popular agricultural grown product. More than 100 billion are sold each year. Wow! Most households have one or more in the kitchen or pantry all the time.

Why am I writing about a banana? Several reasons.... Well, let me explain they are very nutritious, and my go to on trips. They are loaded with potassium, vitamin C and a vast supply of natural carbohydrates which are an energy booster....they help get rid of the hunger until the next meal. In a rush, I pick up a few and head out the door. No prep needed. Yummy yummy!

When I know that I'm not going to eat all that are in my pantry I cut them up and put them in a freezer bag to use either in a shake or recipe later. I even like the frozen bananas in my cereal. I do this before they get speckled.

Most people throw out overly ripened "speckled" bananas....not me. The overly ripened "speckled" ones are my favorite! Also, I use them to make banana bread. The speckle is just a reminder "hey" I'm getting ripe.

In life we need reminders. Nature sends us reminders! Reminders that we need to "inspect" and take action soon before it's to late!

We sing a song called "He made Something Out of Nothing at All" the lyrics in the first verse say;

"In the beginning, the world was formed by your design. With just a word, the sun began to shine; You created the lowest valleys and mountains tall; You made something out of nothing at all." Sung by The Freeman's

Just like the song above...he created the banana. Now I know some will say, "Captain Obvious." However, I believe there is a spiritual application in everything.The banana starts out green, turns yellow, then speckled, and eventually brown.

Our spiritual walk is much the same. We start out green which the bible refers to as being "on the milk" then yellow --which means we mature "on the meat".... I think the speckled represents "wisdom" which shouts out to whoever will listen.."pay attention."

Once bananas turn completely brown they aren't good for much of anything (maybe compost) they are now rotten...this represents "death."

Eat up!

Hebrews 5:12-14 New King James Version

Spiritual Immaturity 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the [a]oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are [b]of full age, that is, those who by reason of [c]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
