Well I thought we were finally going to have a day without rain...nope. While we were at church it literally poured. I shouldn't whine or complain since there are some states that haven't had much rain this year. We have been very blessed here in the mountains! It's lush and green.
Nevertheless, the past seven days has been the week of exponential raindrops. I guess I've paid more attention to nature this year than I have in many years. Have you ever listened to the many sounds of rain?
This week I've heard the sound of a mighty rushing brook, the sound--drip drip drip from water coming through the leaves of our trees, and the sound of static-- like a radio that can't connect to a station from the sudden gully washer downpours. My husband said, "It sounds like bacon frying in a pan". I can't say that I heard that sound....lol. However, I can say, " nature has requested my hearing presence this week."
Even my nose has even been summoned. It has been called to response to the smell of a summer evening rain shower. My verdict, It smells like a musty dirt odor....fish worms! Shew! Stinky!
I like to watch the approaching rain movement. Sometimes, it comes in side- blown sheets, other times, a hard steady rain, or a quick downpour, other times it's a soft ever so gentle sprinkle that mists throughout the daylong. Some days flash floods, some evenings earth altering floods.
This week we have experienced all the above. I feel waterlogged! I don't know how you feel....I'm ready to sing rain, rain, go away! Come again another day....maybe?
I rather have blue skies, aka "Blue Sunshine" any-day; nevertheless, I'm thankful for the cleansing, life producing rain. My hibiscus has enjoyed the wind blown showers!
Ezekiel 34:26 King James Version
"26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing."
Isaiah 55:10-11 King James Version
"10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
