Good Friday

It's Good Friday...but Sunday is coming!

One might ask why (?) did you choose this photo. Years ago, most homes had a spring house..it could be detached from the home or inside. Spring houses were used to keep the water clean from debris, they were used as refrigeration for milk, butter, etc. Most were built from wood, and rock was used to lay the water trough, these rock also helped to keep the water more cool.

My mother shared stories of how they used a spring house growing up. How they placed the things that needed to stay cool down in the water....based on her recollection the water felt very cold. Inside you would find a dipper to get a fresh drink of water.

Our old farmhouse has a spring house attached to the back of the house.

As I look at the trough most people would say it is in ruins. Nevertheless,I know that it can be restored. I believe--because of my knowledge of building that it can be completely restored as if it were newly built.

Looking at this spring house, a structure that sits in ruin, makes me ponder on what Good Friday means to me. This day is Holy.

As I stated yesterday--I've often wondered why it's called Good Friday. After reading I agree with the reference as (Good) being synonymous to Holy. I definitely agree it was a Holy day. Jesus Christ took our punishment, he died for our sins.

You see they thought when they killed Jesus that would be the end of him.

As Christians we know that Jesus Christ was crucified on this day. Even though it looked like total ruin...it wasn't! In just days, Jesus Christ Arose! Total restoration! Jesus Christ conquered death, hell, and the grave.

And my little finite mind--used this old spring house to get a picture of an ALL MIGHTY GOD. No matter what life throws our way, no matter what we consider ruin...through faith in Jesus Christ there is total restoration!

He LIVES!

Luke 23:33-46 King James Version (KJV)

33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.

39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
