Death Valley California

What an experience!

How in the world did we end up in Death Valley?...that was the question we ask each other that day. For Christmas I wanted to give Jeff a gift that wasn't the usual clothing, or tools so I decided we would travel out west. So after talking with the girls we decided on Las Vegas, Nevada.

March 09, 2016 Jeff and I board a non-stop flight to Las Vegas, Nevada. The adrenaline was flowing that day. I have a love/hate relationship with flying. I love to look out and see God's creation, yet I hate the actual flight. We landed at the airport later in the evening, we had to find our way to the rental car pickup location which for most people is no big deal. However, this was our first trip alone with no guidance from our children. All the other times that we had flown we just let the kids lead and we followed. No one to follow this time. Needless to say, we found the car rental location with no issues.

After picking up the rental car we headed out to the unknown. If you have ever been to Las Vegas, you know the airport is right next to the city. So we drive through Las Vegas, wow!

We didn't get out of the car we drive back and forth- back and forth, you get the picture, (cruising) to see the city. Vegas wasn't as big as I was expecting, there were lots of lights, sounds, people, and wedding chapels. I was expecting it to be much larger. Why,? once you see NYC you make comparisons.

Day 2- We decided that we were so close to California that we would drive to Anaheim.

En-route to Anaheim, somehow we got on the wrong road. We ended up in a place called Pahrump, Nevada. A small town approximately 62 miles from Vegas. We stopped at Denny's to eat lunch east coast time (breakfast Vegas time). After eating, we continue on, it wasn't until we topped the mountain, (you could see for miles) that we realized we were in the desert. We came across a sign that said 101' below sea level. It was the most barren, dry land. We passed by a badwater basin sign, and eventually ended up in Stovepipe Wells, California. It's at this point, we realize we are on the wrong road going the wrong direction. I wouldn't trade the views we saw along the way for anything. You see God directs out steps.

This trip is just like our Christian walk sometimes we decide the route we want to go and God completely changes the course.

Proverbs 16:9 King James Version (KJV)

A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps

Romans 8:28 King James Version (KJV)

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
