Porch Therapy

The power of the porch... that might sound strange yet there is 'super' power in porch sitting. Oh the many uses!

My porch offers the best sound therapy available. After dinner is the best time to hear a variety of genres. I can sit and listen to the birds, lots of crows, cows mooing, ...last night I heard the sound of Katydid's singing now folklore says, "three months from the summer date you hear the first Katydid's it will frost." I better mark my calendar! As the sun sets, the light fades to darkness, the genre once again changes....now I hear the ever so present Coyotes, owls, crickets, and peep frogs. Wow! I love the nature sounds.

Oh, That Clock! Old killjoy! I hear you. Come on, get up, you say! I love this quote from the movie Cinderella. The word teaches us to seek him early...what better way than on the porch first thing in the morning. Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Get up, you say! Yes I say, get up... step out and enjoy creation. My porch is medicinal! My porch is therapeutic! Why? It soothes my soul.

The break of dawn is the perfect time to porch sit. I like to take my coffee [diet coke] which I call my coffee and sit on the porch in the mornings. The air is crisp, the smell is fresh, and the genre is completely different once again. The sound of wind moving the air to and fro whispers to my ears...as if it's performing for me. I hear movement in the weeds left of the porch... out walks a momma deer and two babies. Once again I hear a rustle in the weeds, out jumps a bunny. Cars are zooming by most probably in a rush to get to their destination. Birds are chirping! Hummingbirds are swooping all around the flowers on the porch...zipping back and forth. Life! Ah.

Porch sitting is the greatest. It's a friendly place, it calls out to others come sit. The invitation is cast when you sit down. It's a place of serenity.

Try it! Listen and enjoy! Our porch has served us well through the years. Wedding photos, cookouts, birthdays, our grandson is learning early the joy of porch sitting.... even the dog enjoys the porch.

And last not but least....It's the greatest place to read the word, pray, and be thankful.

Life is good!

Lamentations 3:63 King James Version

63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

Ezekiel 3:12 King James Version

12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place.
