Frozen Mornings and Warm Coffee

Frozen mornings have a way of slowing everything down. Nothing like getting out of the bed in the morning and looking out to see everything frozen. Yep, ice and more ice. The world feels quieter when the cold settles in, as if nature itself is holding its breath. It's as if I have the world all to myself.
Grass stiffens under frost, car windows turn cloudy with ice, and even footsteps sound different—crisper, more deliberate.
On mornings like these, when my joints are stiff, my fingers are cold, my nose feels like frosty the snow man, warm coffee becomes more than just a drink. It’s comfort in a cup. It’s something to wrap your hands around that's warm and soothing it's an instant hand warmer, around while the day decides what it’s going to be. The steam rises slowly, a small reminder that warmth still exists even when the air bites at your skin. That soothing smell somehow makes the day seem better. The bitter bite of the coffee wakes your senses.
There’s a special peace in that first sip.
Frozen mornings demand patience, and warm coffee teaches us how to give it.
You don’t rush ice away. You wait for the sun. You sip. You breathe.
These moments often go unnoticed, but they’re grounding. Before the noise of the day begins—before obligations, headlines, and responsibilities—there’s just you, the cold, and something warm to hold onto. Ahh!
It’s a quiet reminder that balance exists everywhere: cold and heat, stillness and motion, struggle and comfort. Frozen mornings don’t last forever. The sun climbs higher, frost melts, and life picks up speed again. But for a few minutes, with warm coffee in hand, everything feels manageable. And sometimes, that’s all we need to start the day. God is good!
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness"
